World Bank “Subnational B-Ready Report on Italy”: Insights for Regional Competitiveness
Rome, December 3 2025
Venue: EIEF
On December 13, 2025, EIEF will host the World Bank Subnational Business Ready (B-Ready) report on Italy. The team will present the findings of its latest report on Italy’s local business environment, highlighting key insights and actionable recommendations. The report is part of a series of subnational assessments of the business environment in EU countries, requested and funded by the European Commission (DG Regio) and implemented by the World Bank. It explores within-country variations in regulatory frameworks, in the availability of public services, and in the efficiency of administrative procedures across 13 Italian cities. The event will shed light on the scale of subnational differences characterizing Italy, particularly in comparison with the other 11 EU countries assessed using the same B-Ready methodology. It will also highlight local challenges and showcase replicable good practices. This is the third subnational study of its kind on Italy, following similar exercises conducted in 2013 and 2020 (link to the previous studies available here). The event will offer an opportunity to take stock of changes, reforms, and progress in the regulatory environment in which Italian firms operate. The event is organized in collaboration with the World Bank Institute for Economic Development.
