7th EIEF-UNIBO-IGIER Bocconi Workshop on Industrial Organization

December 21-22, 2017 - Bologna

The University of Bologna hosted “7th EIEF-UNIBO-IGIER Bocconi Workshop on Industrial Organization” on December 21-22, 2017. The event was a joint initiative of the Bologna Center for Law and Economics (BCLE - University of Bologna), the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance (EIEF) and IGIER-Bocconi. The workshop aimed to strengthen the relationship between Italian economists working in the field of Industrial Organization, both in Italy and abroad, by bringing them together to discuss new research.

New Developments in Econometrics and Time Series 2017

November 16-17, 2017 - Rome

EIEF hosted the 2017 edition of the annual workshop on “New Developments in Econometrics and Time Series”. These workshops have been previously organized in Bochum (2015, Ruhr - Universität Bochum), Rome (2014 and 2012, Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance), Brussels (2013 and 2011, European Centre for Advanced Research in Economics and Statistics), Dortmund (2010, Technische Universität Dortmund). They also are a continuation of the “Brussels - Waseda Seminars on Time Series and Financial Statistics” that have been organized between 2007 and 2010 in Brussels and Tokyo. The program included time series, high dimension statistics, quantiles, statistical depth and their applications in economics. “I Signori del Tempo Perso”

Book Presentation

November 7, 2017 - Rome

EIEF hosted the book presentation: “I Signori del Tempo Perso” (The Lords of Lost Time) by Francesco Giavazzi (Università Bocconi) and Giorgio Barbieri (La Repubblica e L’Espresso). Paralyzed civil justice, inefficient administration and corruption: in this analysis Francesco Giavazzi and Giorgio Barbieri identify the Guild in bureaucracy which has most opposed changes to the country. Giavazzi and Barbieri propose this solution: freeing markets to competition, as the fewer the rules the less bureaucrats there are and the less bureaucrats there are, the less corruption. CEPR European Conference on Household Finance

October 6-7, 2017 - Alghero (Sardinia)

The CEPR Network on Household Finance, the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance, University of Naples Federico II, and the Swedish House of Finance, with the partial support of the Think Forward Initiative (TFI), as well as further support from Copenhagen Business School, HEC Paris, and Observatoire de l’Epargne Européenne, organized the 2017 CEPR European Conference on Household Finance. The objective was to present state-of-the-art empirical and theoretical research on household financial behavior and on how it is influenced by other choices, government policies, and the overall economic environment. ISET - EIEF Workshop on Innovation and Entrepreneurship

 August 24-25, 2017 - Tbilisi (Georgia)

The International School of Economics at Tbilisi State University (ISET) with the support of the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance, the Tbilisi State University and the Italian Embassy in Tbilisi (Georgia) organized a Workshop on Innovation and Entrepreneurship. The objective was to bring together researchers active in the field and to create an opportunity to generate discussion and interaction between local academics and policy makers and international researchers. 6th Rome Conference on Macroeconomics (aka Pizzanomics)

June 26-27, 2017

EIEF hosted the “6th Rome Conference on Macroeconomics”, a.k.a. Pizzanomics. The aim was to bring together junior economists from around the world with a strong interest in Macroeconomics, and to generate a friendly environment with intensive interaction, not only during the presentations but also informally before and after. 2nd Rome Junior Conference on Applied Microeconomics

June 22-23, 2017

EIEF hosted the “2nd Rome Junior Conference on Applied Microeconomics”. The aim was to foster interaction and dissemination of research idea among researchers active in different areas of applied microeconomics. The selection of invited presenters gave preference to faculty at the early stages of their career. EIEF Doctoral Workshop on Applied Microeconomics
