Visiting Positions in Economics and Finance

Each year, EIEF issues two calls for visiting positions for the following year. The first call, with a deadline at the end of June, is the main one, as most office space and funding are allocated then. The second call, with a deadline at the end of December, allocates any remaining desks and funds.

EIEF typically receives over 100 applications annually, with the vast majority for summer positions. December and January are also peak application periods. As a result, office space availability tends to be higher from February to April and September to November.

Budget considerations also play a role in the selection process: applicants who do not require funding have a higher chance of being accepted.

The first call for the year 2026 is now open

We have a number of visiting positions available for young and established scholars in 2026 (the whole year, a significant fraction of it, or shorter periods).

Visitors are expected to contribute to the intellectual environment of the Institute, present their research in a lunch seminar (possibly at the beginning of their visit), attend our seminars, interact with other researchers, both faculty members and PhD students.

We can assist with childcare options and in the search for housing, both short and long term.

Along with financial support, visitors will have access to the Institute research facilities, to ensure a comfortable and productive visit.

Candidates must also copy and include with their candidature the full text of the disclaimer concerning the processing of personal data. Preference will be given to researchers willing to stay longer than one month. The deadline for 2026 applications is June 30, 2025.
