The LABOUR Dissertation Prize recognizes outstanding PhD dissertations in the field of Labour Economics, broadly defined to include research on education, health, inequality, and related topics.

In 2027-2031, EIEF will take part, as a beneficiary institution, in the prestigious European Research Council (ERC) Advanced Grant awarded for the project “The Economics of Money Laundering: New Data, Analysis, and Tools”. The project will be coordinated by Rocco Macchiavello (LSE). Luigi Guiso and Mounu Prem will co-author the core projects, and Elisa Facchetti will also be part of the research team. Congratulations to Rocco, Luigi, Mounu, and Elisa!
EIEF warmly congratulates Giancarlo Spagnolo on receiving the ESA Prize for Exceptional Achievement, awarded by the Economic Science Association. The prize recognizes researchers who have achieved outstanding success in their fields while overcoming unusually difficult obstacles. It celebrates both scientific excellence and resilience in the pursuit of research.
Congratulations to Facundo Piguillem and Bernardo Ribeiro, who have been awarded The Economic Journal 2025 Referee Prize by the Royal Economic Society in recognition of their outstanding service as referees for the journal.
On July 3, EIEF hosted a conference to celebrate the retirement of Luigi Guiso, who will continue his collaboration with EIEF as Senior Professor and holder of the AXA Chair. We thank all of Luigi’s coauthors and friends who accepted our invitation to participate in this special event and pay tribute to his outstanding contributions. We are also grateful to Governor of the Bank of Italy Fabio Panetta, former Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi, Honorary Governor Ignazio Visco, and EIEF and Bank of Italy Board members Chiara Scotti and Sergio Nicoletti Altimari for honoring the occasion with their presence.
EIEF warmly welcomes Thomas Bourany, who has joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor. Thomas holds a PhD from University of Chicago. His research interests include macroeconomics, climate economics, and international trade.

EIEF warmly welcomes Elisa Facchetti, who has joined EIEF’s faculty as a Research Affiliate. Elisa is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics & Finance at Tor Vergata University of Rome. Her interests include economics of crime, economics of education, labor economics.
